A strong explosion gutted the Hotel Saratoga in Havana (Cuba).

A first report speaks of at least 4 confirmed deaths, the injured are about fifteen.

The hotel, which is located in front of the Brotherhood Park, is a luxury structure.

Cars and public transport were involved in the explosion.

"The first results - reads a note from the Cuban presidency on Twitter - indicate that the explosion was caused by a gas leak". A huge cloud of smoke and dust has risen from the Prado. The first four floors of the hotel no longer exist, there are debris and shards of glass everywhere on the street.

On the spot there are rescuers digging in the rubble. President Miguel Diaz-Canel also reached the area along with Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and the President of the National Assembly, Esteban Lazo.
