Eight indictments for manslaughter in the investigation into the death of Diego Armando Maradona, which took place on November 25, 2020 in an apartment in Tigre, near Buenos Aires.

These are the neurosurgeon and personal doctor of the "pibe", Leopoldo Luque, and the psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, believed to be the main responsible for the health of the former footballer. The psychologist Carlos Díaz, the medical coordinator Nancy Forlini and the nursing coordinator have also been indicted Mariano Perroni, the nurses Ricardo Almirón and Dahiana Madrid and the clinical doctor Pedro Pablo Di Spagna.

The prosecutors, in the request for indictment, emphasized the "omissions" and mistreatment of the eight health professionals who were responsible for Maradona's health after head surgery. The judges stressed that the staff had reduced the former player to a "situation of helplessness", abandoning him "to his fate" during a "scandalous" home hospitalization.

Maradona's death occurred on November 25, 2020 from cardiorespiratory arrest while recovering from neurosurgery.

The investigation, in Argentina, was conducted by prosecutors Laura Capra, Cosme Iribarren and Patricio Ferrari, a team coordinated by the attorney general of San Isidro, John Broyad. The eight face sentences ranging from 8 to 25 years of imprisonment.

According to the prosecutors, the accused "were the protagonists of an unprecedented home hospitalization, totally lacking and reckless", and they also committed a "series of improvisations, mismanagement and failures". During the investigation, the special team of prosecutors relied on the report of the medical commission convened by the judicial authorities to assess the health care that surrounded Maradona in his last weeks of life. And in this respect the relationship had been lapidary.

Among the 13 conclusions reached by the medical commission - reports the daily La Nacion - it was argued that "the action of the health team responsible for treating Maradona was inadequate, deficient and reckless"; "Maradona started dying at least 12 hours before 12:30 on 25/11/2020, that is, he presented unambiguous signs of a prolonged period of agony"; "the life-threatening signs presented by the patient were ignored"; "l 'nursing care during his stay at Tigre's home, after Maradona was discharged from the Olivos Clinic, is full of deficiencies and irregularities "and" the patient's state of health has been abandoned to its fate ".

Now the defense of the accused must present its arguments and can request the dismissal of the case. The case could then be brought to court in San Isidro, in the northern suburbs of Buenos Aires.
