Upon the coffins' departure from Switzerland, Italian Ambassador Gian Lorenzo Cornado returned to the topic of the tragedy, explaining that he had learned from Swiss authorities that the ceiling of the room "was flammable, not fireproof." "What I know is that if there was an emergency exit, it was poorly marked, and in the midst of that disaster, the children didn't even see it," Cornado added to reporters.

Speaking of Jacques and Jessica Moretti, the managers of the club—where 40 people died and 120 were injured—the ambassador stated: "In Italy they would have been arrested."
