At least three victims of an accident occurred on a high-speed train between Chicago and Seattle, which derailed near the city of Joplin, in the state of Montana.

The report provided by the Amtrak company speaks of several injured, some in serious condition. On board the convoy were traveling 147 passengers and 13 crew members.

Five carriages ended up off the tracks.

The Chicago-Seattle route is Amtrak's busiest long-distance line and carries over 500,000 people each year: the train, which crosses the Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park, cannot exceed 130 kilometers per hour.
