Tragedy in France during a farmers' demonstration. A woman, who was taking part in the checkpoint set up in Pamiers together with her husband and teenage daughter, was hit by a car which plowed into the protesting group. The rescue efforts were useless. The husband and the girl were seriously injured, the 14-year-old later died in hospital
The three people who were in the car were stopped.
The protests of recent days, which are taking place throughout France, arise from the request for administrative simplifications and faster compensation in the event of natural disasters.
"In the particular moment that agriculture is experiencing, this type of drama is difficult to bear" said the president of the farmers' union, Arnaud Rousseau, announcing the end of the checkpoint on national road 20 where the accident occurred.
During the night, dozens of tractors with trailers blocked traffic on the A7 motorway in both directions, between Lyon and Valence.
