Miracle of life in Alabama, where the world record for the most premature surviving baby was broken.

Little Curtis was born on July 5, 2020, when his mother was 21 weeks pregnant.

132 days premature, Curtis weighed only 420 grams.

According to doctors and statistics, the baby, who had a twin who did not make it, had just a 1% chance of surviving, now he is 16 months old.

Curtis won his battle after spending 275 days in the hospital, attached to a respirator for three months. And his parents were awarded recognition by Guiness World Records.

“Being able to finally bring Curtis home and surprise my older children with their younger brother is a moment I will always remember,” said mom Michelle, who has three other children.

Curtis still needs supplemental oxygen and a feeding tube, but doctors confirm good health.

Dr Brian Sims, a neonatologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham who supervised the birth, said he had “never seen a baby as small as he is. There was something special about Curtis ”.

Curtis broke the previous record by 24 hours, which belonged to little Richard Hutchinson, born at 21 weeks and two days.
