Six dead is the death toll from last night's sinking of a boat full of migrants that capsized in the English Channel while sailing between France and England.

This was announced by a spokeswoman for the French maritime prefecture (Premar). The search for the passengers believed to be missing continues while 55 people have been rescued so far, announced the Boulogne public prosecutor's office.

The search operations involve five boats and a French helicopter and two British vessels in the waters off Sangatte, Pas-de-Calais department.

Meanwhile, at least 2 migrants have died, another 5 are missing and another 13 have been rescued so far after the sinking of a boat with at least 20 Tunisian nationals on board overnight, just 120 meters off the coast of Gabés, in the southeast of the Tunisia.
