Yet another diplomatic case between Washington and Beijing. Joe Biden has invited some 110 countries to the virtual summit for democracy strongly supported by the tenant of the White House, excluding China.

At the center of the work, among other things, also the defense of human rights violated by authoritarian regimes.

Countries invited by the White House include European allies, Iraq, India, Brazil and Poland.

The list does not include China, repeatedly accused by Biden of violating human rights in the Xinjang region, Tibet and Hong Kong. Instead, the White House has invited Taiwan, a decision that fuels tensions even more, risking to compromise the evidence of thaw after the virtual summit between Biden and Xi Jinping.

Taiwan thanked the US president: "With this summit we can share our democratic success story," said President Xavier Chang's spokesman.

Also excluded from the guests were Turkey, an ally of the United States within NATO, Hungary and various Arab partners of the United States such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
