A commando broke into a billiard room in Colombia last night and fired on those present. Four dead, two wounded.

The massacre took place in Altaquer, Municipality of Barbacoas.

According to some witnesses, several people were chatting in the room when gunmen arrived. Amilkar Pantoja, Minister of the Interior of Nariño, stressed that "it is not the first time that similar tragedies have occurred in our department" and to them "are added the massive displacements and threats that many communities live with on a daily basis".

Investigations are underway to clarify whether the victims belonged to the indigenous Awá ethnicity. According to data provided by the human rights NGO Indepaz, so far this year there have been 58 massacres in Colombia, with a death toll of 206.
