Three million pages, 2,000 videos, and 180,000 photos on the Jeffrey Epstein case. Weeks before the December 19 deadline to release all the former financier's documents, the Department of Justice has released more documents, the latest, including pornographic material found on the devices of the pedophile who committed suicide in prison. Among the enormous amount of published files, an email about Bill Gates that Epstein sent to himself in 2018 also emerges, revealing that the Microsoft founder had contracted a sexually transmitted disease after sexual encounters with Russian women . In the letter—reported by the Daily Mail—Epstein attacked Gates for severing their friendship: "You are now asking me to delete the emails relating to your sexually transmitted disease and your request for antibiotics to secretly pass to Melinda," the former financier wrote.
Donald Trump is mentioned 3,200 times in the documents . In some cases, the New York Times highlights, the president's name appeared in articles that Epstein and his friends exchanged, other times it appeared in emails in which the former financier discussed the 2016 election. Thanking all the lawyers who collaborated and worked tirelessly to review the documents to protect the victims, the deputy attorney general assured that nothing was done to protect Donald Trump . "We complied with the statute. We did not protect President Trump, we did not protect anyone. The White House had nothing to do with the review," Todd Blanche said during a press conference. "I believe there is a hunger and a thirst for information that, in my opinion, will not be satisfied by these documents." Trump indicated that the Department needed to be "transparent," and that is what "we have done," he added. Blanche, the president's former personal lawyer, has become the face of the Epstein investigation, surpassing Secretary Pam Bondi, about whom Trump and his loyalists have expressed concern over how the former financier's case was being handled.
"We removed the photos of all the women except Ghislaine Maxwell, but not those of the men," Blanche explained, detailing the review process conducted to justify the lengthy examination. This meticulous work, she admitted, does not fully ensure that errors and oversights exposing the victims were not made. Given the sensitivity of the material available, the ministry has imposed age verification for accessing the published documents: anyone under 18 is prohibited from accessing the new papers in the Epstein Library on the department's website . The deputy minister then specified that her department has received six million pages on Epstein. Many were not published because they could jeopardize federal investigations, or because they contained photos of child abuse or personal information about the victims. This explanation, however, does not convince many observers, who complain that an excessive number of files remain classified. By pledging to carefully evaluate the published documents, Democrats are thus prepared to go to war if the Justice Department fails to release all the documents in its possession. A doubt that is already creeping in among many.
