A herd of hyenas killed two people within 24 hours in a village about 50 kilometers from Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

This was reported by the local police. The hyenas, about twenty, yesterday mauled a man in the village of Kamuthi, near the industrial city of Thika, as he was returning from the quarry where he worked. Within 24 hours of the first attack, the hyenas made another one and the villagers found another body on a farm.

"Police and the Kenyan Wildlife Service were on the scene and confirmed the incident, where a skull, scattered bones and torn clothing stained with blood were found," said the Directorate for Crime Investigations ( Dci), adding that the footprints of hyenas were found on the site.

It has been happening for years in Kenya: the more inhabited centers expand, the more wild animals enter the spaces of human beings. On December 17, a leopard from Tsavo National Park entered a house, only to be rescued by forest rangers. In July, however, a lion from Nairobi National Park caused panic when it appeared in a crowded neighborhood south of the capital.
