Shock in Brooklyn. The granddaughter of writer Paul Auster, a 10-month-old baby, died of an overdose of heroin and fentanyl.

The father of the little girl and son of the writer, the 44-year-old Daniel Auster, is accused of murder.

The New York Times reports. The little girl, Ruby Auster, was found unconscious in a house on Bergen Street, Park Slope, and later died in hospital. The autopsy determined that "acute intoxication" from drugs was the cause of death.

Father Daniel was indicted for manslaughter but police did not provide details on how the child came into contact with drugs.

Twenty-six years ago the son of the author of "New York Trilogy" was involved in a murder case that saw Michael Alig and an accomplice kill drug dealer Andrew Melendez and then throw his body into the Hudson. Auster claimed he had stolen $ 3,000 from the dealer and was sentenced to probation for this.
