Francesca Pusceddu's star shone brightly at the 9th Tullio Serafin International Opera Competition, held at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. The Sardinian soprano received the Daniela Dessì Award, named after the celebrated Genoese soprano who, among many other accolades, also won the Opera Oscar.

Born as a violinist but later switched to singing, Francesca Pusceddu made her debut in 2017 as Musetta in La Bohème, conducted by Sybrand van der Werf, and two years later she won the audition of the Sassari-based de Carolis organization as the island's best emerging talent.

On her social media profile, Francesca Pusceddu expressed her deep emotion and wanted to thank "first of all Maestro Fabio Armiliato and Maestro Andrea Castello, and the entire competition jury, composed of Superintendents and Casting Directors from prestigious theaters." She then dedicated a dedication: "To my father-in-law, who passed away just yesterday. A special person who always encouraged me."
