The Seu, the united Sardinian emigrants, are starting a new journey today . The association, born from the break with the historic FASI federation , was presented today in Cagliari.
In the background is the appeal filed before the Piacenza Court against the procedures and outcomes following the last congress in Alghero last October, which led to the split.
Seu brings together 24 Sardinian clubs scattered across the peninsula, out of the 65 recognized by the Region . However, with the new association, 60% of the members have moved, approximately "14,800 members out of the more than 27,000 who previously belonged to Fasi, where approximately 12,600 remain," according to the numbers revealed during today's presentation. Clubs in the main Italian cities have also moved to Seu.
In Cagliari, for Seu's first public appearance, the new board of directors, chaired by Sara Nicole Cancedda , is almost complete. The other members are Sandra Capuzzi (Pisa), Barbara Burghesu (Vimodrone), Mario Sechi (Turin), Mario Ledda (Fiorano Modenese), and Bernardina Meloni (Siena).
"We are moving toward a cycle of listening and discussion. We have a provisional statute to begin this new journey, but through a unanimously approved Board of Directors, we have given ourselves six months to lay the foundations for an initiative aimed at updating the forms of associationism, basing them on transparency, participation, and shared responsibility ," the new board members explained.
The Seu project "was created to represent and enhance Sardinian communities outside the island through a modern vision, gathering not only the values of the past but also the characteristic traits of contemporary emigration , also made up, in almost emergency numbers, of many highly qualified and qualified young people, boys and girls who cannot find employment opportunities on the island."
