The international tournament Red Cup - Sardinia Bulgaria began with a match between Cagliari Calcio and CSKA of Sofia, in which young players born in 2008 participate.

The event was inaugurated at the CSKA stadium in the presence of the consul of Italy, Francesco Calderoli; the director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Verena Vittur; the Secretary General of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria; the president of Aitef Sardegna, Tonino Casu; the president and vice president of the “ Sardica ” club in Sofia; the director of FIGC Sardinia, Andrea Contini, in addition to the delegation of technicians, coaches and managers of the technical sector of Cagliari Calcio.

This year the tournament will involve the Sardinian team of Cagliari Calcio for 5 days and will participate with 22 players and 5 members of the technical staff.

The organizer of the event is the CSKA of Sofia, in collaboration with the Circolo Sardica, the Aitef Sardegna and with the patronage of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria; 6 participating teams: three Bulgarians, namely Cska Sofia, Slavia Sofia, Beroe Starza Zagora, and three foreign guests, Cagliari Calcio, and the Serbs Partizan Belgrade and Vojvodina from Novi Sad.

For the opening ceremony of the event, the match between Cagliari Calcio and Sofia's CSKA was played with a final result of 3 to 2 in favor of the hosts.

The matches will go on until September 4th and on Sunday 5th there will be a further mini tournament between Cska Sofia, Cagliari Calcio, Voivodina and Partizan. The matches will be played in the best of a single time lasting 30 minutes.
