The Japanese stage of the Boes and Merdules of Ottana and the Mamuthones and Issohadores of Mamoiada officially began yesterday. On Friday they will parade at the Expo in Osaka, on the occasion of the Festival of Italian Anthropological Masks.

For the Boes and Merdules Associations, Sos Bezzos and Proloco di Mamoiada , the meeting with Ambassador Gianluigi Benedetti, on the occasion of the 25th Italian Film Festival in Japan.

The stop at the embassy, the occasion to strengthen the ties between Barbagia and the East, creating a bridge with the Land of the Rising Sun. But also to donate to Ambassador Benedetti, the Ottanese and Mamoiadine masks, made by local artisans.

During the ceremony, which saw the presence of the National President of the Proloco Union of Italy, Antonino La Spina and the regional one, Raffaele Sestu, the representatives of the groups, together with the mayor of Ottana Franco Saba, delegate of Anci.

"Once again - comments the mayor of Ottavia Saba - we have succeeded in the objective of making our traditions known abroad. The meeting with the ambassador was fruitful, now we await the appointment on Friday, where thanks to the Unione Proloco d'Italia, the Ministry of Culture and Anci, we will promote the sounds and colors of our island".

Andrea Canneddu, President of the Proloco of Mamoiada, who will see 26 members of his group parading in Osaka, also relaunches: «We are proud to have shared our culture and our traditions with Japan».

On the same direction Sandro Carboni, President of the Proloco of Ottana: «We are enthusiastic about this initiative that represents a starting point towards the stages of the next few hours. It was an opportunity to promote our community and its traditions once again».
