Acquitted for not having committed the crime.

The preliminary hearing judge Sergio De Luca, this morning in court in Sassari, in an abbreviated session, ordered the acquittal of Fabiano Mariano Saba , the only suspect accused of manslaughter and concealment of a corpse for the death of Antonio Masia, found lifeless on 25 July 2022 in the Gesam plant in Truncu Reale.

Both were employees of the facility that burned down shortly after. Several doubts weighed on the proceedings, starting with the time of death, moved by the coroner, in the last hearing, by 2 hours compared to what was previously believed, thus making Saba's presence incompatible, and the fact that three vehicles were found at the workplace, including a forklift and a blackbird, two more than initially hypothesized.

For defense attorney Luca Sciaccaluga there would also be a third element, relating to the location of the discovery which, in his opinion, could not be that of the plastics sector given that the messages sent to Masia arrived very late despite there always being cell phone coverage in that area. The prosecutor Maria Paola Asara also urged acquittal while the civil party lawyers Daniele Alicicco and Francesca Fiori asked for conviction.
