The works in the “S'Iscala” tunnel on the 131 Dcn between Budoni and Posada have been completed: the road has been opened to traffic in both directions in its final configuration.

"It's an important day," said Anas CEO Claudio Andrea Gemme, " we are delivering a modern structure to the territory as a further demonstration of our commitment to this beautiful island. State road 131 Dcn is a fundamental route. Today's is the latest example of our determined and continuous effort for Sardinian roads."

The interventions, with a total value of approximately 57 million euros, involved the structural and plant modernization of the 1,430-meter-long tunnel, in accordance with current regulations.

The works involved the demolition and reconstruction of the tunnel lining, with the construction of prefabricated slabs and concrete and the subsequent waterproofing using a special PVC membrane. The road superstructure was also redone and the platform water collection was improved. Finally, lateral impact protection devices were installed to raise safety standards.

The new systems installed instead concern the safety and continuity system, the LED lighting, the mechanical ventilation system, the water and fire prevention system, the fire detection system, the radio bridge, the lighting coverings, the video surveillance systems and the remote control areas located outside, near the entrances. The entire system is connected remotely to the company systems.

On the state road 131 “Diramazione Centrale Nuorese” the Anas plan for the modernization of the route is being completed. In particular, in the stretch of about 90 km between Nuoro and Olbia, the interventions have reached a total investment of about 260 million euros.

This is a commitment that involved 29 bridges and viaducts, 6 tunnels, the resurfacing of 65 km of new pavements and the installation of 10 km of new-generation central barriers.

As regards bridges and viaducts, the interventions are aimed at restoring and improving the structural conditions of the works for a total value of approximately 70 million euros.

As regards the work on the tunnels, «it should be emphasized that the state road 131 Dcn is included in the Ten-T network, which requires specific characteristics that the tunnels must comply with pursuant to Legislative Decree 264/06. The tunnels affected by the adaptation works, which concerned the plant and structural aspects for a total value of 160 million euros, are the Santu Antine, Berruiles, S'Iscala, San Francesco and Li Cuponeddi tunnels, which are mainly concentrated in the section between the two cities of Nuoro and Olbia. The work on the tunnels has all been completed except for the Santu Antine tunnel and the San Francesco tunnel, the latter due for completion within the year».

An additional 30 million were allocated to maintenance work: new paving, new signage and replacement of safety barriers.
