The pg of the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Sassari Maria Gabriella Pintus asked for confirmation of the sentences of 21 years in prison for voluntary murder inflicted in the first instance on the defendants Jalal Hassissou and Soufyane El Khedar, accused of the killing of Zeneb Badir, the 34-year-old Moroccan who died on 23 July 2018, after being beaten to death in a sheepfold between Arzachena and Baja Sardinia.

According to the reconstruction of the accusation, the two defendants, also of Moroccan origin, defended by the lawyers Cristina Cherchi and Agostinangelo Marras, would have beaten the woman blood, leaving her agonizing at home for hours. Then the woman had been accompanied to the medical guard in Arzachena and then to the hospital in Olbia, but the attempts to save her life were useless.

The two men had told the doctors and carabinieri that the injuries were due to a fall. Then, after a couple of hours Soufyane El Khedar had confessed, but declared that he had only witnessed the beating and, indeed, had tried in vain to stop his friend.

Instead, the Court held them both responsible. The defenses, on the other hand, contest the reconstruction of the facts. The second degree sentence will be issued on January 31st.
