The repowering will ruin the panorama of the basilica, a masterpiece of Pisan-Romanesque architecture built in the twelfth century and saved so far. In place of the current 51 towers, Erg Wind Energy Srl will install 27 new ones, much taller, about 180 meters : they will have a maximum hub height of between 107.5 and 114 meters and a rotor diameter of up to 145. The greatest responsibility lies in the silent assent of the Region , which – according to the TAR ruling filed the day before yesterday – was formed due to a mistaken belief of the regional offices and the inapplicability of the moratorium that, in the intentions of the Council, should have kept the assault at bay.
The Coordination Network is already on a war footing : "If they hit Saccargia, a sacred place," is the theory, "they can hit anywhere." And they promise: " Something symbolic will be done ."
