In the Glass Palace, that of Eni which belonged to Enrico Mattei, in the neighborhood of the world exhibition that never took place, they study the imperialist history of Rome as if it were a dogma to be handed down. Previously they targeted the most distant deserts to conquer oil wells to dry up, now, on the same maps, they plan new conquests and unprecedented empires, in this case wind ones. There was no need to clarify with the seal of history that the genetic mania at Eni was that of imperialist expansionism, but this time the "six-legged dog" chose to decline its new mission in a "foreign" land by deploying the brightest banner of Rome's imperialist conquests, Publius Cornelius Scipio, known as Africanus . If they wanted to use the " Scipio" brand as a coded message to make it clear that they will stop at nothing to get what they want, this time they were more explicit than ever.

Province of the Empire

The "new province of the Empire" to be brought home, after having devastated it far and wide, with pollution and reclamation never carried out, this time is called Sulcis Iglesiente. For the Palaces of Rome it has always been a land of lead, zinc & coal. Eni, the state body par excellence, has emptied its deep bowels, taking away galena and money, leaving social and economic devastation, territories in decay and poisons scattered here and there. Just as they left, forced, now they return. This time the landing was by sea, with the subterfuge of companies sent ahead to explore offices and ministries, captaincies and Roman "proconsuls" on Sardinian land.

Oil misfortune

We had announced it in a previous investigation by our newspaper, seeing the first moves of the State Agency approaching the Sulcis coast. Now, however, with the bad grace of the imperialist oil system, confirmation arrives, complete with an offshore ship busy drilling holes in the seabed, this time looking for stable points to anchor steel skyscrapers up to three hundred meters high, passed off as floating, to be installed in that stretch of sea that from Carloforte reaches Cala Domestica. They chose the most exclusive stretch, that of Porto Flavia, Laveria Lamarmora, the Tonnare di Carloforte and Portoscuso, that of Pan di Zucchero, the white beaches of Plagemesu and Fontanamare, the exclusive inlets of Porto Banda and Masua.

The tests

After all, as we know, the oil companies, when it came to Sardinia, have never been too subtle, on the contrary. This time the evidence is even more documentary: Eni is working at full speed to create Sardinia's first offshore wind "disaster" off the coast of Sulcis. Now he isn't even hiding anymore, after having taken over the tiny "Ichnusa Wind Power srl", the ten thousand euro company that had first dared to present that wind invasion plan on the Sulcis coasts. An apparently shabby corporate structure, which, however, immediately aimed for a coup: being the first front runner of offshore wind power in Sardinia. A record that earned him the checkmate of none other than Eni who with an "imperialist" move bought the operation to instantly transform it into an international core business, that of sea wind. It is known, however, that the Oil Authority has more experience in oil platforms in the middle of the sea, less in floating wind turbines to be placed between tuna routes and pristine beaches. For this reason the corporate structure has expanded to include "Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners", a Danish giant that already deals with marine wind turbines. The wind energy moves were not long in coming, starting from the name of the new business.

From Ichnusa to “Scipio”

It seemed too provincial to keep the name of "Ichnusa wind power" so much so that Eni, without thinking twice, broke the deadlock by imposing the two wind farms, the Sardinian one and the Sicilian one, both purchased by apparently cheap companies , the most high-sounding names of Roman imperialism: “ Scipio ”, known as the African for the Sardinian skyscrapers in the middle of the sea and “ Hannibal ” for the Sicilian ones. To formalize the change of name and strategy they did not even wait for the start of the fundamental authorization phase, the Environmental Impact Assessment. In recent days, complete with the offshore ship "Rosso Ferrari", they presented themselves in front of the coal port, that of the ferries from Portovesme to "U Pàiže", the Island of San Pietro, aka Carloforte. A presence that could not go unnoticed if it is true that that drilling tower placed in the heart of the ship immediately gave rise to the suspicion that the lords of the wind had returned to the attack. To do this they turned to the giant of boats specialized in geomarine introspections functional to large operations in the open sea: the "Next Geosolutions", the sea arm for the invasions of the infamous offshore renewable energies.

Offshore ship in port

The order of the Portoscuso harbor office leaves no room for doubt: «authorization to carry out three deep core drilling on behalf of the “Next Geosolutions Europe SpA” company, as part of the “ Scipio Floating Offshore Wind Farm ” project, in the seabed in front of the beach of Portovesme". The “NG Driller ”, flying the flag of Naples, the ship destined for the Sardinian mission, has not moved from the coal dock for days as if it had been destined exclusively to guard that body of water. An active garrison of the new "province of the Empire", one could say, if there were not yet to "climb" that decisive authorization step which perhaps Eni considers a done deal, but which will not be a walk in the park even for "the African ”.

State arrogance

The insistence on this devastating project for the Sulcis sea is pure "oil" obstinacy. It would have been enough to look at the opinions of the Municipalities, the Region, trade associations and environmentalists, to understand that there is no air. It is true, the project has passed the preliminary " scoping " phase, the one in which the possible critical issues to be addressed in the Environmental Impact Assessment must be identified, but already in that phase the total opposition of the "people" could and should have been understood local". Instead, as if nothing had happened, with the well-known "imperialist" arrogance, Eni decides to force its hand and arrive at a showdown with Sulcis. That ship in port is a challenge, a threat, one might say, to the quiet life of the tuna route, to the shipping routes, an ambush on the marine horizon which would be literally devastated precisely by those 42 towers to be placed in the middle of the sea in that exclusive proscenium. It would be enough to look at the algorithms of the view from the ground to understand that from every angle of that coast the perspective would be a shot at the horizon and one at the heart.

Sulcis and Costa Smeralda

For the gentlemen of Eni no problem, they have already drawn the map. We publish it in its entirety: “ Scipio ” in Sulcis, 42 blades for 500 megawatts already designed and two off the coast of Olbia in the planning stage for the beauty of 126 wind turbines, right in front of the Costa Smeralda. In other words, Chinese batteries on Sardinian soil cannot remain unused. Sardinia, therefore, "the new colony of the offshore Empire", Sulcis and Gallura "the new provinces", those of offshore wind business.
