Paolo Sanna died in a tragic accident, because the power went out in the apartment on Via Ichnusa where he lived with his wife . He went out to solve the problem and while going back up to the house on the landing he bumped into Roberto Gleboni .

He knew nothing about the massacre, but as soon as the killer saw him, he pulled the trigger of the semi-automatic again with which he exterminated the family. And he hit him in the head , as did all the victims of Gleboni's blind fury. Sanna collapsed to the ground and after a few hours of agony he died in the intensive care unit of San Francesco in Nuoro .

Father of two daughters living in Milan, Paolo Sanna was 69 years old and had been retired for two years , after having worked at the ASL public hygiene and safety centre, in via Manzoni.

"We always worked together, he was a very kind person," recalled his colleague Mario Mele who, as soon as he heard the news of the massacre, rushed to the building on Via Ichnusa. His friend was no longer there. The ambulance had already taken him to the San Francesco hospital where brain death was confirmed that evening.
