We pay 70 euros more than the rest of the country (199.99 euros + VAT) to dispose of each quintal of dry waste. And about 30 euros more for composting.
A system of extra costs that, in the end, weighs on the shoulders of the people of Cagliari for about two million euros. In the dock in the waste management of Cagliari, this time, Tecnocasic ends up: the City Council is shining its spotlight on the in-house company of Cacip (at the time of its birth 35 years ago, Casic) that with an order of the day (of the Urban Ecology and Budget commissions) "nitpicks" the company that manages the waste-to-energy plants.
Plants that are all currently stopped: two for revamping work, i.e. technological renewal, which should have been completed three years ago, and one, the only one functioning, now blocked because it is undergoing maintenance.
«Cagliari has reached the important milestone of 76% of waste sorted for recycling and has significantly decreased that destined for waste-to-energy disposal», explains Francesca Mulas, president of the Ecology commission.
