The bomb scare in Oristano has been called off.

After the intervention of the bomb disposal experts of the Macomer Engineering Corps, the streets of the historic center were reopened after being closed after the discovery of a war device inside the former Carmine Monastery, home to the Oristano university courses.

This morning, the fuse of a 1944 bomb and a 6.35 Beretta pistol were found in a box of books. Traffic within a radius of 150 meters was closed for defusing operations.

On site were agents of the State Police and the Local Police. In the afternoon, the men of the Macomer Engineers, a Red Cross ambulance and the Abbasanta State Police Dog Unit joined them, which searched the premises of the former monastery and ruled out the presence of other explosives.

Mayor Massimiliano Sanna had issued an ordinance to regulate traffic on the surrounding streets, ordering the prohibition of transit and parking in some central areas of Oristano. With the completion of the safety operations, the local police ordered the reopening of the closed streets and traffic returned to normal.
