An Olbia-Rome flight scheduled for today, September 1, at 20.25, with a mind-boggling price. Volotea has put it on sale for 410.17 euros , and the regional Transport Department has reported the shock rate to the competition and market authority.

The price is more than five times higher than the maximum fare applicable to continuous tickets for residents of Sardinia , hence the notification based on the government decree of 10 August.

«The tariff – declared the Councilor for Transport, Antonio Moro – is the daughter of those price and profit policies, characterized by a high rate of speculation which, in a moment of peak demand, as is the case in the so-called counter-exodus , practiced by some companies operating on routes to and from Sardinia».

And the thing, he insists, is " even more serious because it manifests itself in a connection of territorial continuity where, as is known, the carrier operates under an exclusive regime ".

For this reason, the exponent of the Giunta Solinas hopes for a "timely intervention by the Guarantor and the Government", so that " the provisions for the protection of consumers introduced with the decree against expensive flights will find full application ".

Moro also hopes that the "speculations" on tariffs in connections with the island "will find adequate attention also from the EU Commission, so that urgent measures are adopted for the restoration of a tariff ceiling".
