The bad weather nightmare returns to Bitti due to the violent storm that hit Gallura, Nuorese and part of the Barony in the past few hours.

In the afternoon rain, hail and gusts of wind hit the country devastated by the flood of November 2020 when three people died.

The mayor Giuseppe Ciccolini is monitoring the situation, which has returned to normal for a few hours, with the employees of the technical office of the municipality.

"We were hit by the storm that affected the whole area - said the mayor - The disturbance was concentrated in about three quarters of an hour, bringing a lot of water into the confluence between the two waterways in the lower part of the country which is one of the points of greatest criticality, but fortunately the outflow inside the canals, although still damaged by the previous flood, was regular ".

The Municipality and the Fire Brigade and Carabinieri operations centers have not received requests for help for flooding in the country and in the countryside.

"There could have been damage to crops, particularly in the vineyards, which we will verify between today and tomorrow - added Ciccolini -. The fear of recent past and the concern because the condition of the country, where all the reconstruction works have not been carried out, is still very fragile ".

Discomfort this afternoon also at Olbia airport . Due to bad weather, the airport had to temporarily suspend operations by diverting some flights and delaying others, causing inconvenience to passengers and overcrowding.
