"The technical committee that met earlier this week at the Sassari Prefecture represents the first concrete step toward a new era of development for Asinara Island , a place of extraordinary environmental, historical, and symbolic importance for Sardinia." This was stated by Councilor for Local Government and Urban Planning Francesco Spanedda , on the sidelines of a meeting with key institutional stakeholders involved in the island's governance.

The meeting, promoted by the State Property Agency, is part of a broader process of interinstitutional consultation, attended by, among others, the Prefect of Sassari, Grazia La Fauci; the Director of the State Property Agency, Rita Soddu; the Mayor of Porto Torres, Massimo Mulas; the Commissioner and Director of the Asinara National Park Authority, Gianluca Mureddu and Vittorio Gazale; the heads of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, the Coastal Conservation Agency, and regional representatives of the State Property Agency. At the heart of the discussions was the shared need to develop an operational model that allows for the effective and contextualized implementation of the provisions of Article 14 of the Special Statute of Sardinia, regarding the transfer of state-owned assets to the regional heritage and their valorization for public purposes.

"We proposed," Spanedda states, "that this roundtable become a truly permanent institutional laboratory , aimed at identifying and testing concrete tools for the integrated management of public assets on the island, through loyal cooperation between the State, Region, Municipality, Park, and all the other bodies involved."

During the meeting, several priority issues for the continuation of the work were highlighted, including the development of administrative and operational procedures for the transfer of properties from the State to the Region and then to the Park Authority; the timely identification of properties of interest by institutional bodies; a comprehensive review of funding and interventions already carried out on the island; the development of a unified and updated overview of the territory's infrastructure needs; the expansion of institutional involvement in upcoming meetings of the working group; and the definition of a shared timeline, with clear objectives and a defined timeline.

Among the requests that emerged, the Park Authority expressed the need to have additional properties available for renovation and use for higher education activities in collaboration with the University of Sassari, guaranteeing hospitality for teachers and students. "Asinara," Spanedda concludes, "contains a very unique settlement, characterized by the presence of buildings clearly alien to the island's traditions. The Region is ready to do its part, both institutionally and operationally, to ensure that the work on this heritage is not limited to good intentions, but translates into real and shared results." For Asinara Park Commissioner Gianluca Mureddu, "the time seems propitious to plan the future of Asinara together with other institutional bodies. In collaboration with the Municipality of Porto Torres and the University of Sassari, a property in Cala Reale, owned by the State Property Agency, has been requested, which will give substance to the projects expressed in the signed agreements. Specifically, it involves deseasonalizing the island, starting with the establishment of a university education center. We are pleased to note the State Property Agency's great support and the constructive dialogue established with the Sardinia Region, which participated in the discussion, demonstrating proactivity and strong interest.
