Another sensational twist in the Alessio Ara murder mystery: the Court of Cassation has overturned with referral (and this is the second time this has happened) the life sentence handed down to the 67-year-old farmer Vincenzo Unali from Mores.

The murder dates back to December 15, 2016. Alessio Ara, a 37-year-old worker, was killed with two gunshots as he was about to enter his mother's house in Ittireddu .

The Supreme Court, accepting the appeal of criminal lawyer Pietro Diaz , annulled the sentence of the Assize Court of Cagliari.

The "ermines" have ordered a new trial against Unali. It's a case with five sentences already handed down; this is the fourth trial held for the crime.

In the first instance, in 2020, the Mores farmer was sentenced to life in prison for having killed the man who, according to the documents, was courting one of his daughters . Criminal lawyer Pietro Diaz has consistently argued that (according to the lawyer) the assessment of the circumstances surrounding Unali's case was incorrect, particularly the trace of DNA found on a rag that, the prosecutor believes, was used to wrap the murder weapon. Ara's family is being represented by lawyer Luigi Esposito.
