"After having cornered the Ministry of Defense, forcefully demanding full compliance with the laws in force in the Italian State in the field of environmental protection, AForas was forced to draft a new document and send it to the Regional Department of Environmental Defense, with the aim of bringing to light a long series of critical issues present in the Environmental Impact Assessment presented by the Ministry of Defense, which the Sardinia Region will have to accept or reject". This is what we read in a new press release from the antimilitarists, who underline the various "critical issues that would justify the rejection of the Vinca to continue exercises in Teulada by the Sardinia Region". The document presented by AForas is made up of 36 pages and aims to analyze and refute the entire assessment system, which would be affected by "irremediable critical issues".

«The use that the Ministry of Defense makes of those places and what should be done for their protection are irreconcilable. Critical issues related to flora and fauna, but not only. Furthermore, there is the failure to comply with protocols between bodies for monitoring the Sites of Community Interest within the Capo Teulada Polygon; the failure to implement protocols for restoring environmental conditions favorable to natural habitats, as required by European Directive 92/43/EEC establishing Natura 2000 sites; an incomplete assessment of the damage caused by noise pollution generated by the explosions of the ammunition used during the exercises. Even more worrying is the lack of a precise and specific description of the activities that the Ministry should have carried out within the Polygon and (above all) of the type and materials used during such training activities, as well as the measures it intends to adopt to avoid possible impacts on the environment. Furthermore, there is little respect for public participation procedures and administrative transparency, continuing to fail to provide the documentation necessary to evaluate many aspects of their actions."

«In facing, with absolute determination, the clumsy attempts of the Ministry of Defense aimed at continuing to act undisturbed and in contempt of the laws in force, AForas renews its invitation to close all military polygons present in Sardinia, to completely reclaim those places and to return those lands to the local communities, for a more profitable use on a social level and respectful of the environment, in order to be able to safeguard and conserve it in the best possible conditions for the benefit of future generations».
