I had promised the mayor of Villasimius Gianluca Dessì on election day: «Thank you for showing up at the polls at the age of 101, Tzia Bonuccia, for the next birthday I will come to her house in person to celebrate».

And so today – the day of his 102nd birthday – Dessi and all the majority councilors presented themselves to the granny of the village with a cake and a bouquet of flowers. Very lucid, together with her son Mariano, she welcomed everyone with a smile and immense gratitude.

Tzia Bonuccia (Bonaria) Longoni was born on 9 July 1921. In 1946 she married Efisio Dessì, landowner and owner of a bar located in the very central Piazza Incani. The over one hundred year old as well as looking after the family has given a big helping hand to her husband in running the bar. Among her passions is the one for flowers that she continues to cultivate and of which she is proud.
