The Sartiglia knights, complying with the legal opinion requested by the Municipality of Oristano, do not require vests and helmets for the star race and the pariglie. However, the Prefecture, ahead of the event—which today will mark one of the key moments of the carnival with the presentation of blessed candles to the Componidori—reiterates "the need for full compliance with the provisions contained in the so-called Abodi decree, barring any subsequent regulatory or interpretative provisions from the relevant authorities."

We are therefore left with bated breath waiting to see what the knights will do, who may even decide to stage a protest before or during the Sartiglia. The Municipality has already presented its position with a legal opinion according to which the law allows for the event to be held without helmets and protective vests over traditional Sardinian costumes, as requested by the knights themselves, who have been on a war footing for weeks.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Commission for the Supervision of Public Entertainment Venues must still issue its opinion, which is "exclusively technical in nature, concerning the general safety and hygiene conditions of the event," explains the Oristano Prefecture. " This opinion does not constitute authorization; that responsibility remains with the municipal authority. To issue this opinion, the Commission will conduct several meetings to examine the documentation and plans submitted by the organizer. The process concludes with an inspection of the area where the event will be held, to verify the prepared arrangements. Only after this inspection can the required opinion be issued," the Prefecture concludes.
