The expansion and extraordinary maintenance work on the Valledoria municipal cemetery has been completed, transforming it into a more modern, accessible, and dignified place for the community. The major project, the result of a total investment of €300,000, resulted in several crucial improvements: new pedestrian walkways were created, with the complete removal of architectural barriers to ensure full accessibility for all residents. Furthermore, the external fencing was completed, new gates were installed, and approximately 100 new burial niches were constructed.
Valledoria Mayor Marco Muretti expressed great satisfaction with the completion of the work: "Making our cemetery a more modern, respectful, and fully accessible place was a primary goal of our Administration. This isn't just about construction work, but a profound investment in the dignity and care a community owes its deceased and their families. With nearly half a million euros invested, we have not only ensured the availability of new cemetery spaces for the future, but we have also eliminated architectural barriers and taken care of the details that make this place of remembrance welcoming to all. This is a strong signal of our commitment to concretely improving essential services for all Valledoria residents."
These interventions are complemented by further work carried out thanks to two additional grants, totaling €178,000, which included extraordinary maintenance in Sections B and C and the creation of 150 new burial spaces in Section A. This operation represents a fundamental step in improving cemetery services and ensuring the community has a place of remembrance and reflection that reflects modern standards of decorum and accessibility.
