Having archived its victory in the “Italian Tree of the Year 2024” competition, the Yew of Matari in Urzulei, in Ogliastra, will now have to represent Italy in the European Tree Of The Year 2025 , the European contest where the monumental trees that win the various national competitions compete.

Estimated to be around 500 years old and 17 metres high and with a circumference of 5 metres , S'Eni 'e Matari, as this green patriarch is known locally, is a natural treasure that has watched over the Urzulei area for centuries, overlooking the Rio Flumineddu and the Gorropu gorges.

You can vote until February 24th through the Giant Trees Foundation portal at the following address: https://www.treeoftheyear.org/vote/tasso-di-matari-urzulei. You can vote only once, using your personal email address, and you can express two preferences.
