A complaint has been filed with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nuoro regarding the management of the CPR in Macomer: it was filed by the Sardinian MP for the Green and Left Alliance, Francesca Ghirra, after having carried out some inspections in the structure used as a repatriation detention center.

The report focuses, in particular, on the conditions of the facility where foreigners are held, on the compliance with the specifications by the managing entity and on the respect of migrants' rights. "Already during the first inspection, which lasted 9 hours and took place with the support of Cesare Mariani, a volunteer lawyer for the Naga Odv association, and Nicola Cocco, an activist doctor for the Mai più Lager - No ai Cpr Network, I had detected completely unsustainable conditions of detention for the migrants held," Ghirra denounces in a statement.

"I was particularly struck, in addition to the dilapidation of the premises, by the health conditions of some of them: there was a man with a broken ankle, who was not allowed to use crutches, effectively preventing his recovery" but also "a man with an arm in a cast and a very swollen hand, who had never been able to speak to a doctor. A man with impressive allergic reactions on his face and body who suffered from asthma and slept on the floor in the corridor to breathe, who complained about the fact that he had never been able to see a doctor and that they did not give him medicine, despite his medical records certifying his pathologies; another with serious mental health problems, who went back and forth talking to himself with a blank stare, saying he was Richard Nixon and that he had been locked in there because that's what was written in the Bible".

Ghirra has been "several times to Macomer and, after having examined the specifications, the technical offer and the protocol with the ASL of Nuoro , I decided to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office to verify the correct implementation of the contract by the managing body".
