The first 40 mafia bosses subjected to the 41 bis regime arrived at Uta prison this morning . They reached the island aboard a Guardia di Finanza plane departing from Pomezia and landing at 8:30 a.m. at the Decimomannu military airport. The transfer was announced by journalist Mauro Pili on his social media profiles.

The bosses were then transferred to the Uta facility with an impressive security apparatus. The police, Carabinieri, prison police, and financial police are on duty. The area around the prison is heavily guarded . The main entrance is manned. Only authorized personnel are allowed to enter.

The operation continues . Another 40 inmates are expected in the next few hours . Justice Minister Carlo Nordio inaugurated the new 41 bis prison section (Cagliari) a month ago. The opening of the unit includes the arrival of an initial group of 92 inmates subjected to this harsh prison regime .
