Tragedy in Ula Tirso, where an 89-year-old man was burned to death.
It happened yesterday evening: the old man, Salvatore Cossu, was warming up in front of the fireplace, when he lost his balance, perhaps he fell ill, and fell.
The blanket he was using for the cold ended up in the fireplace catching fire, with the flames rapidly engulfing him.
A relative promptly alerted the rescue, but when the firefighters of the Abbasanta detachment intervened in the house, in via Indipendenza, there was already nothing more to do for the man.
Burns all over his body left no escape for the 89-year-old.
The body was returned to family members.
118 and carabinieri were also on site.
