Terna's extension until June 30th for the Tyrrhenian Link construction project on the Villasimius coastal road, along the Quartu stretch between Marina Residence and Capitana, is causing disruption and controversy. And after a nightmarish June 2nd, with long queues in narrow lanes, traffic lights regulating alternate one-way traffic, and an hour to get from Capitana to Margine Rosso, the Margine Rosso Committee is now on a war footing.

«Unfortunately, we are the ones who suffer the most», says the president of the residents' committee Giorgio Sangiorgi, «when it gets blocked towards Capitana it is clear that the whole road then suffers» .

"It seems like we want to become the enemies of tourism, and that's not good. The other day I was visiting friends in Flumini and it took me an hour to get back to Margine Rosso ," Sangiorgi adds bitterly, also asking for a "serious discussion about the condition of this road with the relevant authorities. Because construction sites certainly increase the inconvenience, but let's not forget that in the summer, even without work, this road is impassable . A bottleneck is created between the roundabout on Via Marco Polo and the one on Margine Rosso. We need to discuss serious measures."

The Metropolitan City granted Terna an extension to continue work on the coastal road due to "urgent and unavoidable" work, which currently extends the construction site closure to July 1st. As for the other construction sites, those at Abbanoa and the fiber optic cable closed regularly on May 31st without exceptions, to avoid causing disruption along the coastal road during the summer.
