"He approached me and grabbed me. He was holding me back with one arm, and with the other he was holding the knife to my throat . He kept asking me to call the police. Then he started dragging me, but he tripped and I tripped too, and we fell. At that point everyone approached, customers and colleagues, and started hitting him to make him drop the knife. Someone took me away. Then I saw that four of the people who intervened were injured and bleeding, two customers and two staff. Eventually the police and ambulances arrived." This is the story of Elena, a cashier at the restaurant on Corso Umberto in Olbia, the scene of moments of violence and terror last night.

A man armed with a knife burst in brandishing a knife, attacking the woman and then injuring some of those present who had intervened to save her.

After the intervention of the police and the Carabinieri , the man, a 30-year-old of North African origin, was arrested , while the injured people were entrusted to the care of 118. They are not thought to be in serious condition.

As for the attacker, "someone had already seen him around this area, but we didn't know him," added Elena, visibly shaken by what had happened.
