Twelve griffon vultures transferred to the large Villasalto aviary , built by the Forestas agency in the Cea Romana forest area.

After more than two months of quarantine in the wild animal recovery center of Bonassai, in Sassari, where health monitoring was carried out, the 12 griffon vultures, coming from Spain, were released, thus returning to populate an area from which they had been missing for decades .

The specimens constitute the first nucleus destined for the repopulation of the area.

The action conducted by Forestas is part of the activities of " Life safe for vultures ", a project of the University of Sassari financed under the Program for the environment and climate action to ensure the long-term survival of the griffon in Sardinia. The construction of the aviary and the centralized carnage aims to create a new nesting nucleus, which adds to the one currently present in northwestern Sardinia, in the coastal stretch between Bosa and Alghero.
