New fire alarm this morning in the Gesam waste treatment plant in Sassari , which was destroyed by flames in the first days of August following an arson fire .

A truck driver passing through the industrial area of Truncu Reale noticed smoke coming from the skeleton of the plant and gave the alarm.

Two teams of the Sassari fire brigade arrived on the spot who, before intervening, had to have the authorization from the Prosecutor's Office to break the seals.

The fire was developing by self- combustion of a part of the material buried under the layer of gravel deposited precisely to prevent any outbreaks from re-fueling the flames after the August safety measures.

The firefighters have extinguished the start of the fire and reclaimed the wing of the affected structure.

THE INVESTIGATION - At the stake that destroyed the waste treatment plant a month ago, an investigation is underway launched by the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office to establish the nature of the fire, which from the first findings is malicious, and to understand if there are any links with the death of the worker Antonio Masia , whose body had been found lifeless inside the factory, on 25 July last.

Another investigation is underway for that death which just yesterday recorded a turning point with the registration in the register of suspects of a colleague of the victim, with the hypothesis of the crime of manslaughter and concealment of a corpse.
