The proceeds of the third Valentino Melis memorial, the Vespa and Fiat 500 rally held in Trexenta, were donated entirely to charity in support of cancer patients and scientific research. The initiative dedicated to the young entrepreneur from Selegas, characterized by extraordinary participation from citizens and neighboring towns, was promoted by the Melis family in collaboration with the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Selegas. Around 7,500 euros were collected, divided equally and donated to the associations “Il Giardino di Lu” and “Salute Donna e Salute Uomo”. The tour animated the streets of the towns in the area, after a stop and an aperitif in the nuraghe Piscu in Suelli, the participants returned to Selegas for lunch in the shade of the gazebos with malloreddus alla campidanese and grilled meat. Musical entertainment followed until late at night.
“Salute Donna e Salute Uomo” is a national association with over twenty years of experience in the fight against tumors and for about five years there has been a section in Sardinia. It deals with support for patients and their families, social and health training, physical education, nutritional education, legal advice, counseling activities and psychological support for patients.
The association “Il Giardino di Lu” was founded in 2016 by Maria Fois Maglione in memory of her daughter Luena, who was taken from life by ovarian cancer at the age of 37. In a short time, the woman transformed a personal journey into a great challenge involving an ever-growing community of volunteers and donors who, captured by her thought and the beauty of the Garden, share and support her purpose.
The Valentino Melis memorial is now an unmissable event for fans of Fiat 500s and derivatives of historical interest and Piaggio Vespas. For an entire day, the small town of Trexenta has involved many motor enthusiasts, in particular those vehicles that have made the history of two and four wheels in Italy.
