A tragic accident occurred in Monserrato, on Via Giulio Cesare, near the municipal cemetery: a 91-year-old man died, and emergency services were unsuccessful.

The driver of the car, a young man, was taken to the hospital in a state of shock. Carabinieri from the Quartu Mobile Radio Unit were on the scene to conduct investigations.

According to initial reconstructions, the elderly man was hit by the car while he was crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.

After the alarm was raised, the 118 emergency medical personnel were also alerted, and arrived promptly but could only confirm the death.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old, was taken to the hospital, the "Santissima Trinità" in Cagliari, to undergo the usual tests.

The Judicial Authority was informed of the incident, which ordered the return of the victim's body to the family.
