A traffic of catalysts recovered from car mufflers between Sardinia and Poland? The discovery was made by agents of the Quartu police station.

At the end of lengthy investigations and stakeouts, the policemen arrested a 39-year-old resident of Quartu (of Slavic origin) and two Poles , father and son, on charges of receiving stolen goods. Thirty car catalysts and a few thousand euros were found in the Poles' van: the catalysts were apparently destined for Poland to obtain the radium, palladium and platinum they contain.

The three arrests were not confirmed today by the judge in the validation hearing, only because the flagrance would not have been recognized . But the trial will take place, the charges remain.

The blitz was triggered in Quartu where the Polish van, already loaded, was parked in a street of the town waiting for the 39-year-old to deliver more catalysts . The young man, who would have walked away at the sight of the police, was then blocked by the same agents and arrested together with the Poles.

The agents did not find other catalysts: the seizure was triggered for those found on the bus together with the cash. An investigation destined to spread like wildfire

The thefts would have occurred between Cagliari and the hinterland : the thieves would have stolen only the catalysts of the parked cars, using battery grinders. The investigations are coordinated by the director of the Commissariat Michele Venezia and by the substitute commissioner Gianni Noto.
