«We are carrying out a forceful operation . We will only unblock the port when we have answers from Rome ."

The farmers and shepherds of Medio Campidano, Sulcis, Trexenta and the Cagliari hinterland are increasingly aggressive and have been "camping" for a week now in front of the Customs pier of the port of Cagliari to protest against the policies of the European Union.

«We asked for authorization for another 10 days, but we will leave here when the Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida, receives us , and when he gives us certain answers », says Roberto Congia, spokesperson of the "Agricultural redemption" committee which together with the Sardinian Shepherds Movement he organized the protest on the island.

In the meantime, farmers are organizing themselves to join the national protest: around 1,500 demonstrators are expected in Rome on Thursday .

It cannot be ruled out that others will arrive in Sanremo this evening. "If they come I'll let them go on stage," Amadeus said yesterday.

There are around twenty tractors stopped at the port of Cagliari for several days , they only move in the afternoon to parade in the center and draw the citizens' attention to a «protest that must involve everyone. We must get it into our heads that agriculture is the driving force of the entire economy", as Nando Puddu, a farmer from Selegas, explains.
