Autumn begins tomorrow, but in the capital and the rest of the island, it seems like a second summer is beginning . From Gallura to Ogliastra, from Nurra to Sulcis, and all the way to Campidano, there's a boom in tourists (especially foreigners) . Sunbeds, umbrellas, stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and pedal boats: full service, with rates virtually identical to those in May, at least in those beach resorts that have decided to bet on extending the season and staying open.
In Sardinia, summer certainly doesn't end on September 21st: that's well known. What wasn't known is that the long summer is increasingly popular with Italian and, especially, foreign tourists , who are currently booking a fall vacation on the island , recording an increase in September and October (compared to 2024) of up to ten percent (in the first two weeks of October).

With hotels and B&Bs currently at up to 60% occupancy, operators are cautiously optimistic about the long-awaited extension of the tourist season. If it weren't for the "axe" of air travel, with airlines halving their flights after the summer season, they might even hope to extend the season until November.
