He blew out the beauty of 100 candles, celebrated and pampered by grandchildren, relatives and friends. Gino Mereu, born in 1923, celebrated this beautiful milestone this afternoon.

Originally from Ilbono, but moved to Tortolì in the 1960s, he was married to Mrs. Severina Pani. He has been a widower for six years. In his life he was a fruit and vegetable merchant, with his van he went to the markets in the various towns of Ogliastra.

Born on January 20, the celebrations were held today together with his family gathered for him. The mayor Massimo Cannas also brought greetings on behalf of the administration, accompanied by the councilor Emanuela Laconca and the deputy commander of the local police Mauro Pili. They wanted to pay homage to him for this wonderful achievement.

"Uncle" Gino Mereu has seen a lot, he fought during the Second World War, he was a partisan. He lived through hard times when we didn't know the comforts we're used to. Today he is a lively and lively man, he eats everything, among his favorite foods first courses such as culurgionis, but also minestrone and su casu axedu. He has breakfast every morning with bread and milk. He doesn't drink wine but allows himself a Pepsi at mealtimes because he says it "helps him digest". He drove the car until two years ago. He had no children, but is cared for and loved by his nephews, sisters-in-law and all family members. Excited and happy, he blew out his hundred candles.
