Tortolì, Uncle Gino Mereu blows out a hundred candles

He blew out the beauty of 100 candles, celebrated and pampered by grandchildren, relatives and friends. Gino Mereu, born in 1923, celebrated this beautiful milestone this afternoon.

Originally from Ilbono, but moved to Tortolì in the 1960s, he was married to Mrs. Severina Pani. He has been a widower for six years. In his life he was a fruit and vegetable merchant, with his van he went to the markets in the various towns of Ogliastra.

Born on January 20, the celebrations were held today together with his family gathered for him. The mayor Massimo Cannas also brought greetings on behalf of the administration, accompanied by the councilor Emanuela Laconca and the deputy commander of the local police Mauro Pili. "Uncle" Gino Mereu has seen a lot, he fought during the Second World War, he was a partisan. He lived through hard times when we didn't know the comforts we're used to.
