It was January 4, 1925 when Giovanna Scalas came into the world. One hundred years later, her children, grandchildren and city administrators celebrated her century of life together. With her husband, Antonio Saba, who worked as a port operator, she raised 9 children. During her life she always took care of her family and household chores.
On the day of the enviable anniversary, her 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren also gathered around her . The mayor of Tortolì, Marcello Ladu, the president of the city council, Mara Mascia, and the majority group leader, Fabrizio Annarumma, also visited her home. Grandma Giovanna is the fifth centenarian of the town. Ogliastra confirms itself as a land where the elixir of long life is well-rooted. No one has the secrets to reaching 100 years, but it is a widespread belief that good eating habits and a healthy lifestyle are among the determining factors.
