The buyer of the first coupon was an exceptional customer: the mayor of Tortolì, Marcello Ladu. Almost as if to encourage the flow of visitors to the archaeological complex of S'Ortali 'e su Monti, an area that overlooks the Orrì coast.
The site welcomed the first tourists, Italian and foreign, at 10am today after months of silence. Management was awarded to the Sardinia Cultural System Consortium, with registered office in Monastir, for the amount of 122,949.61 euros. Six professional units were employed, all from Ogliastra.
«We are returning the most important archaeological complex of Ogliastra, both in terms of assets present and number of presences: in the past, 9 thousand annual visitors had been reached», declared Ladu. It was also the opportunity to inaugurate the ticket office, with bathrooms and exhibition space, delivered in 2012 and never put into operation. «In all these years it has been left to total neglect and degradation. We have restored it and made it operational with essential services."
There are five types of tickets on sale for the visit: full price (9 euros with a guide in Italian and English), full price without a guide (5 euros), reduced prices for the elderly and children as well as freebies for disabled people and their companion. The site will remain open every day of the week, except Monday, from 9am to 12.30pm and from 4pm to 8pm . At the culmination of the short ceremony inside the site, the mayor, still on the subject of cultural services, announced the turning point also for the library in via Vittorio Emanuele, closed for months: «It's the next objective: we will reopen it within the month. Unfortunately we have inherited a catastrophic administrative situation."
