It is the day of farewell to Maurizio Mulas, the football goalkeeping coach who passed away following a sudden illness. At 4:30 pm today the last farewell in the church of Sant'Andrea, in his Tortolì, where the coffin will arrive from the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari where the 57-year-old died at dawn yesterday. Moving words from Valentina Vacca, president of Lanusei, the club with which Mulas worked in the season that ended a few weeks ago. Season culminated with the promotion to Eccellenza for the team coached by Alberto Piras, the head of the technical staff completed by Enrico Cuccu.
"I'm shocked. From a footballing perspective, it's not up to me to profile Maurizio, but those who worked with him knew his seriousness and precision. We often played on the parochialism between Tortolì and Lanusei and he jokingly told me that he didn't have permission to reach the center of Lanusei and could only stay in the surrounding area. Maurizio was a goliardic and wonderful person in this respect too. He was a fun and joking person. I can say that I've lost a friend." Manuel Morillas, Lanusei's starting goalkeeper who worked with Maurizio for a whole year, also remembered him.
"Why you? This is the question I've been asking myself since I heard the news . Maurizio was our first goalkeeper, a great person, a great friend and a great goalkeeper coach. We still needed you, on the field and in life. We will miss your jokes and anecdotes and our stories. I will always carry you in my heart, in training and in the various phases of life. Thank you for your teachings and for the many laughs. We will always wait for you for the penultimate ball of the match. I will remember that you were born ready, first goalkeeper."
