Wild West chase through the streets of Monte Attu. At the wheel of his off-road vehicle, a man from Tortolì chased a small group of boys who were walking a pitbull. The driver apparently managed to reach the animal, injuring it with the blade of the chainsaw he had with him.

The episode

It was 9:30 PM on Wednesday. The streets of Monte Attu, a populous neighborhood of Tortolì with over 2,000 residents, were quiet as usual. Suddenly, the screeching tires of an off-road vehicle alarmed the residents. The vehicle was traveling at high speed through the narrow streets, crossing a pedestrian street that connects Piazza Soro and Via Frugoni. The man was chasing some young people with the pitbull in his custody. What happened in the following minutes is yet to be clarified, but the wounding of the dog with the chainsaw is so far the only certainty in a story that the Carabinieri are called to shed light on. The animal was apparently hit on the back, was bleeding but not in danger of life and was treated by a veterinarian. The most widely accepted hypothesis at the moment is that of a settling of scores due to an alleged aggression, which had occurred previously, by the dog towards some children. In the recent past, the dog's owner had been fined on two occasions for failure to guard the animal.
